Jazz lounge and cocktail bar — intimate, with an unpretentious interior, but featuring the best live music in the city, along with impressive vinyl and whiskey collections.

The place is run by a well-known local musician, not long ago a curator of cultural projects in West Kowloon and the godfather of Hong Kong’s indie scene — Kung Chi-Shing. Over the past couple of decades, he has gifted local music lovers several intriguing avant-garde projects. Before retiring, he managed to transform a rather unsuccessful bar in Sai Ying Pun into Hong Kong’s first authentic Japanese jazz kissaten.

Kissa comes from the Japanese word kissaten — a term for a music café where you can listen to contemporary music for the price of a drink.
